We Got Our Fairy On...

Listen, I can’t lie to you guys... I was totally that girl who played Pixie Hollow all night on her parent’s desktop computer – trying to collect all of the blueberries and pixie dust until my mom inevitably told me I needed to cut the shit and go to sleep. “But mooom, I need to finish this quest! I only need 4 more blue pixie dusts to get the Autumn Revelry badge! Then I get a FREE gift for my fairy house!” I’d plead. Yeah, I know it sounds dorky but hey, don’t tell me you didn’t have a tinkerbell loving phase. I used to live for styling my fairy and my cute fairy house. (I totally rocked it as a young interior designer) And, you could say this is what jumpstarted my styling obsession. Nevertheless, as life continued on, there is one this that remained – my love for fairies and fashion. Oh and of course, lots of fucking glitter.

But besides the loads of fun I had clicking around to see my fairy fly and track flitter all over – Pixie Hollow did teach me a few concepts that I’ve certainly brought into my everyday life — collaboration and nurturing the environment. From Silvermist to Fawn – each fairy was connected to the environment in some way. Teaching my younger self that there is power in numbers, and in caring for our surroundings. And for some reason, when we discovered Hara the Label, the first thing that struck my mind was “Wow, the fairy within me is totally flipping out right now” And not only because of their super cute outfits – but because they’ve based their mission on creating a space for females to lift each other up while caring about the environment. It’s a sisterhood – a modern life Pixie Hollow, so to speak.

Hara the Label is an Australian-based clothing label that focuses entirely on creating ethical and sustainable pieces full of wanderlust. All of their products are sustainably, naturally dyed, cut, sewn, packaged and shipped in Melbourne, Australia. Oh and wanna know what’s even cooler? Each piece is made out of bamboo fabric which needs no pesticides to grow, hardly any water, it purifies the air in which it is grown in and needs little space to thrive. Talk about a win win – Hara even achieves its vibrant colors by using natural dyes with Turmeric, Indigo and Madder Root plants. We are so here for this.

In light of our fairy find – HOKU decided to unleash our inner fairy as a testimony to the soft vibrancy of each HARA piece. Enjoy this visual journal featuring myself and our Creative Director, Ayla Forsythe (who I am convinced is a Garden Fairy).
